September 24, 2022Hi Friends đź‘‹,
Welcome To aGuideHub! ❤️
To convert string to int16 in golang, just use ParseInt()
method with int16()
and pass your string, it will convert string into int16.
As we know the ParseInt()
method always return int64
so that’s why we have to use int16()
to convert int64
to int16
.
Important Points
Difference between int and uint
UInt does not allow for negative numbers.
uint’s and int’s max value
uint8 : 0 to 255
uint16 : 0 to 65535
uint32 : 0 to 4294967295
uint64 : 0 to 18446744073709551615
int8 : -128 to 127
int16 : -32768 to 32767
int32 : -2147483648 to 2147483647
int64 : -9223372036854775808 to 9223372036854775807

Today, I will show you how do I convert string to int16 in golang, as above mentioned I’m going to use ParseInt()
way.
The strconv
package provide ParseInt()
method.
Let’s start our Golang convert string to int16 example
Convert whole string into int16 example
main.go
package main
import (
"strconv"
"fmt"
"reflect"
)
func main() {
var s string = "10"
i, err := strconv.ParseInt(s, 10, 64)
if err != nil {
panic(err)
}
fmt.Println(i, reflect.TypeOf(i))
i16 := int16(i)
fmt.Println(i16, reflect.TypeOf(i16))
}
In the above example, we have converted string to int16 and printed in golang console. let’s check the output.
Output
10 int64
10 int16
