Bootstrap 4 nav examples

Hi Friends 👋,

Welcome To aGuideHub! ❤️

Today, I am going to show you. How to use nav examples in bootstrap 4 with code example.

If you want to create a simple horizontal menu, add the .nav class to a <ul> element, followed by .nav-item for each <li> and add the .nav-link class to their links:

Table of contents

  • Includes bootstrap view
  • Includes bootstrap library
  • Define its class name

This article will guide you to adding nav examples in Bootstrap with example.

Step 1: Includes bootstrap view

To ensure proper rendering and touch zooming for all devices, add the responsive viewport meta tag to your <head>.

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">

Step 2: Includes bootstrap library

First of all, load the Bootstrap 4 framework CSS into the head tag of your webpage.

<!-- Bootstrap CSS -->

<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css">
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/jquery.slim.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js"></script>

Step 3: Define its class name

Navbar navigation links build on our .nav options with their own modifier class and require the use of toggler classes for proper responsive styling. Navigation in navbars will also grow to occupy as much horizontal space as possible to keep your navbar contents securely aligned.

Active states—with .active—to indicate the current page can be applied directly to .nav-links or their immediate parent .nav-items.

After that, create the nav with a class name .notify-badge.

<div class="container">
    <h2>Nav</h2>
    <p>Basic horizontal menu:</p>
    <ul class="nav">
        <li class="nav-item">
            <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
        </li>
        <li class="nav-item">
            <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
        </li>
        <li class="nav-item">
            <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
        </li>
        <li class="nav-item">
            <a class="nav-link disabled" href="#">Disabled</a>
        </li>
    </ul>
</div>

Example.

Let’s look at the following example to understand how it basically works:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">

<head>
    <title>Bootstrap Example</title>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css">
    <script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/jquery.slim.min.js"></script>
    <script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
    <script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js"></script>
</head>

<body>

    <div class="container">
        <h2>Nav</h2>
        <p>Basic horizontal menu:</p>
        <ul class="nav">
            <li class="nav-item">
                <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
            </li>
            <li class="nav-item">
                <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
            </li>
            <li class="nav-item">
                <a class="nav-link" href="#">Link</a>
            </li>
            <li class="nav-item">
                <a class="nav-link disabled" href="#">Disabled</a>
            </li>
        </ul>
    </div>

</body>

</html>
